Tom and Missy purchased the Juan de Fuca Cottages in May 2006.
Family is very important to both of them with four grown children and lots of extended family – get-togethers are frequent, full of laughter and good food - and loud!
Pacific Northwest Natives , the Rief’s moved to Sequim in 2002 from the Snohomish area.
Their son, Michael joined in the everyday operations in July 2008.
"Michael is our Maintenance Technician Assistant, Professional Greeter, and World's Ace Vacumer! If you need a hug - Michael is always the first in line to give one! Michael is our most popular - and always can be relied upon employee!"
Their son, Matthew joined in the everyday operations, as Manager, in August 2012.
"As the business has grown, so had our need for a full time Manager. Matthew is there when we are not and loves working with our guests - assisting them at check-in, or with kayaks and bicycles, as well as any questions about the area - where to eat, what to do. Tom and Matthew hope to start offering fresh crab to our guests - caught right out in the Bay - starting summer 2013!"
Tom, Michael, Matthew and Missy were raised on the waters of Puget Sound and consider it such a blessing to be working in one of the most beautiful areas of the world!
When not at the cottages
- Tom collects baseball cards and is a runner.
- Missy finds time for quilting and road biking
- Michael is a four season Special Olympian and loves dancing and history.
- Matthew is a writer and an athlete - enjoying baseball and training.
They all enjoy vacationing in Mazatlan, Mexico or where ever family happen to be!
